Global call to action

Joint statement by the IEAc and Eval4Just

We, the International Evaluation Academy and the network of Evaluators for Justice, unequivocally condemn the continuation of the Israeli genocide in Gaza, the assaults on Palestinian civilians and their property in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, the repeated bombings of Lebanon, and the recent Israeli bombardment in Iran, including the targeting of nuclear facilities. These acts, as well as the use of starvation as a weapon of extermination and the indiscriminate attacks on medical facilities and civilian populations are a threat to safety and stability world-wide and violate fundamental principles of international law. Additionally, they result in an unacceptable number of losses of innocent civilian lives in all the affected countries, including in Israel.

In times of polycrisis such as this one, it is vital for the global community to unite and foster hope. We call on international leaders to ensure accountability and uphold the law to prevent further escalation.

Silence is complicity, and we must not stand idly by!

As evaluators committed to development, social cohesion, and justice, we reaffirm our dedication to upholding international law and support our colleagues working on humanitarian, justice, and evaluation activities worldwide in advocating for a peaceful, just, fair, and sustainable world.

We urge fellow evaluators and global evaluation associations to join us in calling for immediate action to de-escalate tensions and uphold existing international legal instruments. Let us amplify the voices of those affected and strive for evaluations that contribute to justice.

Now is the time for collective action!

Together, we can make a difference in building a peaceful, just, and sustainable future.
